How does behavioral addiction work?

I have a question for you. Which mechanism is the most complex? Think of the answer before reading the next line. If you thought human body it’s correct. Human body has the most complex set of mechanism.

If we do something out of the ordinary and get praised for it, we get a satisfaction. It is caused by the release of a hormone called dopamine in our body. It is released when we do something out of the ordinary.

Eating and sex is ordinary but it is needed for survival. If we dont get hungry we won’t eat. If we don’t get aroused we won’t find a partner. These are needed for survival.

Why is watching porn an addiction?

I know this question would have been ithing your head all along and it itched me to be honest. Whatching porn is not something people would praise us for and it is certainly not needed for survival. Then why is watching porn an addiction?

In order to sate our desires we find a partner and we have kidz, but watching porn makes our body release dopamine and it gives us a kind of satisfaction and then people do ‘m…’ to finish it off. So, now the tables have turned and we don’t need a partner to quench our desires. This if not controlled could result greatly in people socialising.

How to get out of harmful behavioural addiction ?

Too much of anything is good for nothing. It applies to anything and everything, drugs or behaviour. So in order to come out of it we need to control our mind. The best way to control our behaviour is :

  • Realising the pain. It is us who are getting affected. We need to understand what we are losing. If you don’t lose anything you wont stop anything. So take time and think about it.

Seek professional advice Behavioural addictions are rare and you think that you could face it alone. No you wont. Go to therapies and rehab. Don’t think that you could stop it with one go and presently you want to do it one more time. Don’t draw the noose around you. Just seek help and you would turn a very happy person.

Try diverting your habits Do something which is more useful. You could try anything

  • Sports

  • Reading

Just do something as soon as you get that little craving. Don’t allow it to develop. Become the master of your own body.

You would become the happiest person ever.
